Tagging Instructions

Return to Consignors Page

Please, follow these instructions VERY carefully so that your items are tagged and bundled properly. The items in RED are required and the items in BLUE are optional. This will save you time at receiving and keep your items as safe as possible during the sale.

  1. Barcodes - Use the website to produce your barcode labels and print them out - preferably on cardstock. The cardstock will keep tags from ripping off during the sale.

  2. Price - You can price your items at your own discretion, but here are our suggestions. Price your items about 1/3 of the price you paid. If the item still has tags or is in great condition, price it a little more. Remember, this isn't a yard sale - but it isn't a boutique, either. Price items at a rate you would be willing to pay.

  3. Hang - Hang clothes on hangers so that the hanger looks like a question mark when you are looking at the garment. For 2 piece outfits, it is best to safety pin the pants over the back of the shirt, and onto the hanger - not hang the pants inside the shirt. This allows shoppers to see your outfit more thoroughly. METAL HANGERS ONLY - NO plastic or plastic coated! A good resource for metal hangers is your local dry cleaners.

  4. Pin - Use a medium or large safety pin to attach the tag to clothing (no small safety pins or straight pins, they are a hazard to customers). It must be pinned on the right side of the garment as you're looking at the front of the garment.

  5. Tape - In addition to your barcode tag, we suggest a piece of masking tape or a return address label with your Consignor ID number on it be placed inside each garment. It also advised to put it on EVERY item, not just clothing. In case a barcode tag it lost, this allows us to identify your item.

  6. Size - Do not use S,M,L, (except for maternity). Please, use month sizes for infant clothing (ex.0-3 months, not by lbs). For older boys' pants, label with waist and length sizes.

  7. Description - On the barcode tag, write a brief description. This is where you put brand, color, or any selling features (ex. NEW, Never Worn, 3 pc. Set, hat included, etc.). This could help us reunite a lost tag to it's proper garment.

  8. Bundle - All clothes must be bundled by size and gender - NO exceptions. Simply tie each bundle together. A volunteer will be checking to see that this is done before you enter receiving. All non-clothing items must also be grouped together (ex. Shoes in a bag, toys in a bag). This helps expedite receiving, and gets you out faster.

  9. HOW TO TAG NON-CLOTHING ITEMS:

Shoes: Put a piece of masking tape with you consignor number on the bottom of each shoe. Put the shoes in a Ziploc type bag - the 3 gallon size works for larger size shoes. Use packing tape and tape the barcode tag to the INSIDE of the Ziploc bag. Be sure you seal the bag. REMEMBER: a little wear is fine, but shoes need to be in good condition.

Toys: Secure small pieces in a Ziploc type bag and write your consignor number on the bag with a permanent marker. Use packing tape to secure the bag to the toy. Also, use packing tape to secure your barcode tag to the toy - not the bag. REMEMBER: NO stuffed animals. Learning and Dress-Me-Up dolls, and action characters will be accepted if clean and in good condition.

Furniture: Secure the barcode tag with packing tape to a visible spot if possible. It is more important not to damage the finish, so if necessary, attach the tag to the inside toward the top, right side of the piece.
We want your items to sell quickly. The little extra effort in following these suggestions will make all the difference!
